Youth & Young Adult Ministry

Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester

About the Emblem:
I Live my Faith is the official religious recognition program of the Roman Catholic Church.

Program Objectives:
The I Live My Faith program is designed to hep Girl Scouts appreciate more deeply the place that God and religion occupy in their daily lives. The program is structured on the Catechism of the Catholic Church with the themes of: Belief, Sacraments, Catholic Christian Living, and Prayer. Each theme provides a variety of opportunities for young people to explore the Catholic faith including art, technology, research, drama, and prayer.

The book is divided into four chapters and includes an Introduction, Conclusion, and Leader's Guide.
The chapters are:
Belief
Sacraments
Catholic Christian Living
Prayer

Within each chapter, the youth are challenged to Discover, Learn, and Connect Catholic Church teaching to their lives while incorporating Prayer throughout the process. I Live My Faith complements and supports the more formal religious education provided in Catholic schools and parish programs.

Eligibility:
Children in grades 4-6 who are enrolled in Girl Scouts.

Getting Started:
Emblem Books may be obtained by contacting alechase@dor.org at the Diocese of Rochester

Although the book could be completed in four to six hours, the goal of earning a religious emblem is to help the Girl Scout develop a personal relationship with God, so it is suggested that steps be spread over several weeks. This will help the Girl Scout understand that htis is a long-term commitment, not a one-time project.

Scout's Role:
Actively work on the activities with her parent(s) or group leader

Keep the Religious Emblems Coordinator (Pastor, Youth Minister, or Faith Formation Director) informed of her progress.

Parent(s)/ Group Leader Role:
Activily work on the activities with their daughter. She may need your help with Bible readings and getting information.

Keep the Religous Emblems Coordinator (Pastor, Youth Minster, or Faith Formation Director) informed of their daughters progress.

The leader's guide is located within the youth workbook.

Program Completion:
When a Girl Scout completes all steps, she is to present the book to her parish priest or the priet's representative and the book is reviewed with the Girl Scout.

After the pastor or his representative signs the book and the application form, only the application form, order form and check are sent to:
