Program Objectives:
Family of God is a bilingual activity series developed to complement the catechetical efforts of the parish and families with children in the second and third grades. Revised and transliterated into Spanish in July 2004, the program helps children discover the presence of God in their daily lives as members of their family and parish.
The six chapters cover:
I am special to my family
I am special to God's family
I belong to my family
I belong to God's family
I can help my family
I can help God's family
Children in grades 2-3 who are enrolled in Girl Scouts.
Each Girl Scout have her own Family of God book.
The book is designed for the Girl Scout and her parent(s) or group leader to work together
Diocesan and Girl Scout Youth Protection policies must be followed.
Getting Started:
Emblem Books may be obtained by contacting at the Diocese of Rochester
Although the book could be completed in four to six hours, the goal of earning a religious emblem is to help the Girl Scout develop a personal relationship with God, so it is suggested that steps be spread over several weeks. This will help the Girl Scout understand that htis is a long-term commitment, not a one-time project.
Scout's Role:
Actively work on the activities with her parent(s) or group leader
Keep the Religious Emblems Coordinator (Pastor, Youth Minister, or Faith Formation Director) informed of her progress.
Parent(s)/ Group Leader Role:
Activily work on the activities with their daughter. She may need your help with Bible readings and getting information.
Keep the Religous Emblems Coordinator (Pastor, Youth Minster, or Faith Formation Director) informed of their daughters progress.
The leader's guide is contained within the youth workbook.
Program Completion:
When a Girl Scout completes all steps, she is to present the book to her parish priest or the priet's representative and the book is reviewed with the Girl Scout.
After the pastor or his representative signs the book and the application form, only the application form, order form and check are sent to:
